Metric "Blue-Stripe" HDPE polyethylene pipe is manufactured to operate at specific maximum operating pressures and these are generally known as "PN" or the new "SDR". In PE100 HDPE, the PN 6.3 metric pipe is also known as SDR 26 and the maximum operating pressure of that pipe with water at 20 degrees C is 630 kPa. Note that this is the maximum safe maximum working pressure and allowance must be made for pressure bounce that will occur when pumps start and stop and valves open and close.
