The D50 is an Australian Made float switch unit that has replaced the old D30 level switch. Suitable for controlling the operation of pumps for tank filling or emptying, for use as an alarm activating switch and, the D50 can be provided with a radio system to provide remote indication of tank status. Easy to install and very easy to adjust - the D50 comes with a mounting bracket and is made from solid aluminium and is weatherproof. The D50 float switch is a "differential" type which means that the distance between switch on and switch off is adjustable over a distance of up to 2.5m as standard, lengths over 2.5m are optional.
The D50 two position top entry level switch operates on the principle of displacement. When non floating solid polypropylene displacers, suspended from the switch, are immersed in liquid their weight is reduced by an amount equal to the weight of the liquid they displace, This weight change is detected and used to actuate a magnetically isolated switch. Surface agitation, froth, floating or submerged solids do not effect the action of the D50 switch. The displacement principle depends on the specific gravity of the liquid in which the displacers are suspended. The switch is set to operate in water, at a specific gravity of 1+/- 5%. Various displacers are also available to allow the switch to operate in liquids of other specific gravities.
